ERIKA RUEGEMER, of Minnesota, received her BA in Dance from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.  After graduating she pursued her passion for professional dance with ARENA Dances, Inc. (Minneapolis, Minnesota), PUSH Physical Theatre (Rochester, New York), FuturPointe Dance (Rochester, New York), gloATL (Atlanta, Georgia) and Flower City Ballet (Rochester, New York).  Erika is the Founder and Artistic Director of Rochester Dance Theatre (RDT) and has collaborated for several years with THE YARDS collaborative art space and WALL\THERAPY.

Erika began working with Flower City Ballet (FCB) in 2011 when Wayne Blatt (Mr. B) generously provided her with the opportunity to share the studio to pursue her personal dance endeavors.  She recently inherited the position as Artistic Director from her mentor and friend Mr. B.

Erika teaches dance primarily in the disciplines of classical, contemporary, and improvisation techniques.  She is a performer, choreographer, teacher, and director.  No matter where life takes her she will always be a part of the dance.

Flower City Ballet was started my Mr. Wayne Blatt. Mr ‘B’ Blatt received his ballet training from Liana Haeusler, Prima Assoluta of the National Theatre in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and friend of George Balanchine.  Mr. Blatt served as Premier Danseur of the Genesee Civic Ballet for eighteen years, dancing leading roles in many ballets, including the  Nutcracker, Le Beau Danube, Les Patineurs, and Swan Lake.

Mr. Blatt was a guest dancer with the Baltimore Opera Theatre.  In1960, Mr. Blatt was recognized in Dance Magazine for his exceptional talent and promise.  Mr. Blatt is a Dance Masters of America certified dance teacher and has over 40 years of teaching experience.  He was the founder and Artistic Director for the School of Classical Ballet, and is the Ballet Master for the Flower City Ballet.  Mr. Blatt has staged countless productions throughout his career.  Many of his students have continued their dance education at schools such as the Julliard School and the Cincinnati Conservatory.  Others are dancing professionally for companies such as Ballet Magnificat and Peoria Ballet.Slide1
